Finding Joy: Dancing with Baby Girl

Today I held Baby Girl and we danced around the living room to Corinne Bailey Rae’s Little Star. What a perfect song for dancing with a baby, it’s not too fast or too slow and it has a groove and a rhythm. The words are easy to learn and sing and the first verse is perfect, just for my Baby Girl:

Just like a star across my sky,
Just like an angel off the page,
You have appeared to my life,
Feel like I’ll never be the same,
Just like a song in my heart,
Just like oil on my hands,
Honored to love you

I like to sing the “little potatoe song” to my little one. Anyone else know this one?

Your my little potatoe
Your my little potatoe
your my little potatoe, dug you up
You come from underground

oh now you are so sweet potatoe

I’d go and play in the mud to be with you my spud

I sing Sarah McLauchlan’s “Ice Cream” a lot to my girls. We make up words and giggle much.

” Your love is better than ice cream…better than anything else that I’ve tried…your love is better than ice cream…everyone here knows how to cry and it’s a long way down to the place where we started from…”
