When this first happened, I had several engineer friends at the house trying to figure it out and we were stumped. So, I imagined that the clever raccoons were going to the all night Wal-Mart and buying magnets. But, one night I had the cat door blocked and saw them trying to get in. The door is locked for animals trying to get in, but not to get out. The raccoons get their long, curved claws underneath the lip of the door and pull it backward. Pretty smart, huh?
