Thank you for the comment, Kristen. As I read it, I remembered getting really angry at the cashier at The Children's Place the other day because they won't give money back on a debit purchase without the original debit card which belonged to Grandma in Memphis and while I might have been horribly wronged by a ridiculous return policy, I was mean to the cashier, which is sad. It does matter how we treat people in our every day interactions.

This was a touching story, and a wonderful reminder of the power we all possess! As we go about our business we can make/break someone's day by the way we approach and respond to them. I guess you never know when the cashier at the grocery store might really need your friendly understanding and not impatience. This is particularly true of how we interact with our children. We may think it a small thing to get down on the floor and play for a while, rather than saying "in a little while after I'm done cleaning", but it means the world to them! They might not have the weight of the world on their shoulders like we parents feel we do, but a little time from us tells them they matter and that they are fun to be with and worthy of love. Thank you for the positive reminder- I needed that!
