There’s an iPhone In My Laundry!
I’m tempted by the iPhone. I’m not a gadget person and I don’t like to change phones, but I dream of having my Google contacts and calendar on my phone and the iPhone is so sexy, that I’m tempted, which is why Blue Eyes and I were at the AT&T store a few nights ago.
Then, last night, Blue Eyes was teasing me about not turning my cell phone on because I had missed a call, while at the same time I was moving the laundry from the washing machine to the dryer and I came across, of all things, my cell phone. Washed on the cottons setting with Tide and Oxy-Clean. The screen was wet and distorted, so Blue Eyes recommended trying the dryer. Then Blue Eyes and Noel both eyed me with suspicion, given the convenient timing of my cell phone accident.
I looked at the numbers today and it didn’t add up. Oh, I’m sure they will give us an iPhone if we ask and we can pay for it out of savings, but technically, if I was being honest, I would admit that lust for the iPhone isn’t really a family emergency. We try to teach Noel to save her money for things she wants instead of borrowing to get it right away. That is the problem with kids, they remind you of the person you want to be.
So, I’ll get the nearly-free phone for now and save my money. There is a new iPhone coming out later this year, so I may end up ahead anyway. It may not be the sexy thing to do, but it feels right. And when the time comes to get my iPhone, I’ll remember to be more careful with the laundry.

I’m holding out, too. It’s harder than I thought it would be.
